Parental Support
We have special needs children; we have a special school; we have very special teachers, assistants and staff.
The part that seems often forgotten, even by ourselves, is that WE HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS TOO.
Others have gone before and others are following close behind. We are our own best support system but the very nature of our special school means that we rarely get the opportunity to discuss our views and feelings with other parents and carers. Experience gained by anyone of us is rarely passed on.
Now it’s time for a change.
This is the place where you can ask your questions and share your experiences. We are looking for your comments, questions and experiences on admission to the school, progression through the education system, post-16 options, dealing with the LEA, useful contacts, SEN friendly places to go, things to do, after school activities, child-minders – anything and everything that you have found helpful, useful, obstructive or even just interesting.
If this section proves popular we intend to implement an interactive forum where you will be able to see your comments and replies immediately, so here is your chance – what do you want to talk about?
